Recently moved house? Congratulations – you’re about to start the next chapter of your life. Moving house is stressful enough without having to unpack all your boxes at once, but this doesn’t leave you with answers to important and practical questions like “how am I going to eat?”.
Luckily, there are ways around the entire thing that mean that the last thing you’re going to do is starve. Use this time to get a little creative with food – you can always enjoy your new kitchen later.
Order In
We all deserve a treat from time to time, and this is as good a time as any. After moving, the last thing you probably want to do is cook. Ordering a takeaway is a lot more varied these days, and thanks to a range of services, you can basically get whatever you want.
Deliveroo has everything from winter warmers through to classics like pizza and Chinese, so you can get whatever you want, no matter your cravings. You can even find something healthy if you’re on a diet or wanting to avoid a binge. Find something new to you if you’ve moved to a different area, or, since they’re able to deliver stuff you already like from big chain restaurants, you don’t need to settle on anything too different if you don’t want to. Baby steps and all that!
Benefits to ordering in? Seriously, so many. No washing up, no needing to dig out the kitchenware and appliances, and you don’t really need to clear much space. Stick on Netflix and you’ve got yourself a great night in.
Have A BBQ
With the warmer months just about to roll in, now’s the perfect time to have a BBQ. If you want to meet your new neighbours, you could even turn it into a bit of a BBQ garden party.
The great thing about barbecuing is that you don’t need to be in the kitchen, and you also don’t need much equipment. They do low-cost disposable BBQs in supermarkets over the warmer months – so just grab the food while you’re at it and keep grilling.
Even if meat isn’t your thing, you can still get in on the action. You don’t need to actually (shock, horror) unpack your kitchen things, just because you’re a vegetarian.
Make “Simple” Food
On those days where you just want something simple and you don’t mind eating something a little chilled, there are plenty of foods out there that you don’t need to cook.
It’s not just sandwiches; you can get really creative with food that doesn’t need cooking these days, so if you can’t for the life of you clear any counter space in the kitchen or even remember where you put the microwave, there are an array of salads, international dishes, wraps and even desserts that will be your best bet.
Aren’t you bored of eating the same food anyway? This little break while you sort your life out could be really good for you. And who says you have to give any of this up after you do unpack? Enjoy!
